Setting Your Life Goals

If you want to live your life to the fullest potential, start setting life goals.
Buried dreams, forgotten goals, and underdeveloped potentials will be things of the past if you begin to set your life goals.

Goal setting is a powerful process that allows you to have greater control over your future. Goal setting skills can be applied to everything you do.

Setting life goals is like having a map to show you where you want to go and avoid getting lost in the process. With you goals in tact, you can drive straight to your preferred destination without any wasted time or wrong turns.

Start your goal setting with what you want to be, achieve and have in your lifetime. Then work your way through a series of lower level plans up to the things you will have to do on an everyday basis. By making this structure of your plans, you can be able to break the biggest plan you have into a number of smaller daily tasks to reach it.

If it is hard for you to set life goals, books, programs, seminars and trainings and coaches are available to help you achieve your desired plans. But it is normally easy to set life goals. It can be compared to dreaming and basically, putting it onto paper. Setting life goals is easy - making them real is the challenging part.

After setting your life goals, make a serious pact to follow it. Keep the process going with the same fervor as you had when you started it. You must refer to your life goals periodically so you can modify your short term goals according to your changing priorities and experiences, and yet continue on towards your larger plans.

Don't be afraid to set your goals high.

In setting life goals, here's a guideline on how to create effective goals:

- Write it down. Putting your ideas onto paper will help you remember them. These ideas are helpful in reaching your goals.

- Not too high, not too low. It is important that you set life goals that are realistic so that you have the opportunity to achieve them. It is just as important to not set them too low. Set goals that will not make you lazy, but instead motivate you.

- Be positive. Express your goals in a positive statement. Even with this small detail help yourself to think positively about the future.

- Be specific. Set a precise plan, including dates, times, and amounts so that you will know everything needed to achieve the goal and take pride from having achieved it.

- Prioritize. Give each of your objectives priority. You will have many goals to achieve but prioritizing will help you from feeling overwhelmed by the things you must do in a period of time.

In the process of following your life goals, create a support system. This is a critical step. You will need to support yourself to keep your focus on your goals. Failing to get support may be the single reason why goals fail.

Make sure to select goals that are really of great importance to you. Make sure to choose goals that are in agreement to your values.  Finally, give them a plan and a support system to help them become reality. You must be the one to decide what to pursue and what direction you want to aim in life.

Goal setting techniques are commonly used by people who want to achieve success in their life or professional field.  If you want your life to be a success story, start setting life goals now.

Here are a couple of positive affirmations for you:
"My life is filled with love, fun and friendship."
"I always receive more than what I need."
"I am a real success."

The Importance of Having a Mentor

No matter how good you are at your craft, there really is nothing like being able to have a mentor.  Most business owners and successful online entrepreneurs will admit that a mentor was a big part of their success.

A lot of people feel like they can do everything on their own and this is something that can lead to a lot of problems.

If you are serious about succeeding in life, you will need to know the importance of having a mentor.  There really is nothing like having someone tell you that what you are currently doing is wrong. A lot of people go through life without having an idea as to what they are doing and this is why it's important to have someone help to guide you.

Having a mentor will take you through the steps and let you know if you are making a mistake at the current time or if you have made some in the past.  A mentor is someone that has more experience in the particular field you are looking for help in, and they have to be someone that you can trust.

Remember it is easy to commit mistakes that without ever knowing about having committed them.  Having a mentor will pay for itself in routine fashion. For each individual’s situation, you need to find the right mentor for your current life’s ambitions or goals.

In order to succeed, in life as well as business, you will need to make sure that you find the right mentor. However, finding one can be one of the toughest things that we are ever made to do.  Though you might associate a "mentor" as someone that is older than you, a good idea is to simply just concentrate on their experience levels and knowledge of your chosen field.  The person does not need to be older but someone that can truly guide you the right way. Whether it is your boss, teacher, coach or even a family member, it is important that you choose one correctly.

If you are serious about succeeding and being able to avoid mistakes with your business or life in general, it is crucial that you find the best mentor possible.

I want to wish you all the best of luck during your own mentor searches.  I am currently on a search for a new mentor myself.  I had one for my past career pursuit and it paid off beyond enormously.  It was so useful that I was later able to open a new business in the household goods moving industry and operate successfully for almost five years.

In my new pursuit of internet marketing and social media development I am currently searching for a mentor.  I hope to run into one soon enough though so that they can help me get my feet on the ground and really take off with tremendous effect once I have their individual experiences and strategies to help instruct me.  Take care of yourself and each other, have a great day.

Here are a couple of positive affirmations for you:
"All my relationships are loving and harmonious."
"I love and accept myself."
"The more greateful I am, the more reasons I find to be grateful."

Acquire Strength Through Personal Development

Here is an article I found that really summarizes in a lot of ways the different fundamental principles I am trying to express through this blog.  It is pretty deep and somewhat heavy to read but if you have a minute I encourage you to read it.

It is the natural right of every human being to be happy to escape all the miseries of life. Happiness is the normal condition, as natural as the landscapes and the seasons. It is unnatural to suffer and it is only because of our ignorance that we do suffer. Happiness is the product of wisdom. To attain perfect wisdom, to comprehend fully the purpose of life, to realize completely the relationship of human beings to each other, is to put an end to all suffering, to escape every ill and evil that afflicts us. Perfect wisdom is un-shadowed joy.

Why do we suffer in life? Because in the scheme of nature we are being forced forward in evolution and we lack the spiritual illumination that alone can light the way and enable us to move safely among the obstacles that lie before us. Usually we do not even see or suspect the presence of trouble until it suddenly leaps upon us like a concealed tiger. One day our family circle is complete and happy. A week later death has come and gone and joy is replaced with agony. Today we have a friend. Tomorrow he will be an enemy and we do not know why. A little while ago we had wealth and all material luxuries. There was a sudden change and now we have only poverty and misery and yet we seek in vain for a reason why this should be. There was a time when we had health and strength; but they have both departed and no trace of a reason appears. Aside from these greater tragedies of life innumerable things of lesser consequence continually bring to us little miseries and minor heartaches. We most earnestly desire to avoid them but we never see them until they strike us, until in the darkness of our ignorance we blunder upon them. The thing we lack is the spiritual illumination that will enable us to look far and wide, finding the hidden causes of human suffering and revealing the method by which they may be avoided; and if we can but reach illumination the evolutionary journey can be made both comfortably and swiftly. It is as though we must pass through a long, dark room filled with furniture promiscuously scattered about. In the darkness our progress would be slow and painful and our bruises many. But if we could press a button that would turn on the electric light we could then make the same journey quickly and with perfect safety and comfort.

The old method of education was to store the mind with as many facts, or supposed facts, as could be accumulated and to give a certain exterior polish to the personality. The theory was that when a man was born he was a completed human being and that all that could be done for him was to load him up with information that would be used with more or less skill, according to the native ability he happened to be born with. The theosophical idea is that the physical man, and all that constitutes his life in the physical world, is but a very partial expression of the self; that in the ego of each there is practically unlimited power and wisdom; that these may be brought through into expression in the physical world as the physical body and its invisible counterparts, which together constitute the complex vehicle of the ego's manifestation, are evolved and adapted to the purpose; and that in exact proportion that conscious effort is given to such self-development will spiritual illumination be achieved and wisdom attained. Thus the light that leads to happiness is kindled from within and the evolutionary journey that all are making may be robbed of its suffering.

Why does death bring misery? Chiefly because it separates us from those we love. The only other reason why death brings grief or fear is  because we do not understand it and comprehend the part it plays in human evolution.  But the moment our ignorance gives way to comprehension such fear vanishes and a serene happiness takes its place.

Why do we have enemies from whose words or acts we suffer? Because in our limited physical consciousness we do not perceive the unity of all life and realize that our wrong thinking and doing must react upon us through other people a situation from which there is no possible escape except through ceasing to think evil and then patiently awaiting the time when the causes we have already generated are fully exhausted. When spiritual illumination comes, and we no longer stumble in the night of ignorance, the last enemy will disappear and we shall make no more forever.

Why do people suffer from poverty and disease? Only because of our blundering ignorance that makes their existence possible for us, and because we do not comprehend their meaning and their lessons, nor know the attitude to assume toward them. Had we but the wisdom to understand why they come to people, why they are necessary factors in their evolution, they would trouble us no longer. When nature's lesson is fully learned these mute teachers will vanish.

And so it is with all forms of suffering we experience. They are at once reactions from our ignorant blunderings and instructors that point out the better way. When we have comprehended the lessons they teach they are no longer necessary and disappear. It is not by the outward  acquirement of facts that men become wise and great. It is by developing the soul from within until it illuminates the brain with that flood of light called genius.

Here are a couple of positive affirmations for you:
"I draw abundance to myself today and every day."
"Healthy living ideas flow to me easily."
"My life is filled with love, fun and friendship."

5 Ways to Maximize Your Energy Supply

Different governments, officials and environmental agencies exhort us to conserve the energy we use in order to save the environment and sustain our continued existence on the planet.

On a personal level, I think that we also need to know how to conserve, focus, and maximize our own personal supply of energy. We unconsciously dissipate and waste our energy on people, situations, thoughts, attitudes and events which do not serve us well. This leaves less space and energy for creating and attracting the kind of abundance that we want in our lives.

Probably not the most effective use of time or energy.

Interestingly enough I've also found that as I conserve, focus and thereby maximize my energy, I tend to use less energy on craving and acquiring "stuff".  I notice I also use more energy focusing on what is truly important to me, thereby helping my environment and energy supply.

So here are 5 Ways to Maximize Your Personal Energy Supply:

1. Release Resistance.

Releasing resistance will affect a profound change in both your level of energy and also how you view the world. Resistance often feels as though we are going against ourselves in order to satisfy some internal authority or a myriad of "should" "ought to" and "have-to get done" requirements. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to be resistant.

Related feelings and behavior caused by resisting include: procrastination, using willpower and discipline to effect change (otherwise known as "I Have To Struggle To Achieve What I Want"!), stubbornness, inflexibility, wanting to be right rather than happy (a very popular one), and holding onto self-limiting beliefs way past their sell by date.

Releasing resistance can be as easy as simply making a decision to let go of whatever you are holding onto. Energy therapy also helps release resistance on some very deep levels.

2. Reduce the time you spend watching TV.

Watching TV unconsciously is very exhausting to the average person. Haven't you noticed that when you watch TV continuously and do little else, somehow you become extremely tired? This is because you are merely a passive recipient of information that you're not fully engaged with.  All of this information intake, combined with the physical microwave consumption (similar to that from computers) is very taxing on the body. It is also true that while you are watching TV, you are not doing something that may be more productive.

Now, I am not saying that you should stop watching TV altogether. I am simply implying that it would be more beneficial to your health to be more selective and watch only those programs that you have an active interest in and will be engaged with. I would personally recommend that you stop watching the mainstream media news. The constant fear mongering and mass scare tactics it subjects you to only lead to a frame of mind that is counter-intuitive to welcoming abundance. I find that my mindset, moods and overall energy improve significantly when I watch less TV.

 3. Consciously create positive vacuums.

If you clean out an area of your life, you are consciously sending the Universe a message to introduce something new to replace that object in your life. This is otherwise known as energetic and/or physical clutter clearing. Start with either option. Most people find it easier to start with clearing out the physical clutter around them which has a negative effect on their energies. You are consciously creating the space for change to occur, and inviting what you do want to enter your life. Doesn’t this sound much easier than to constantly strive and struggle to make positive changes occur?  Of course it does.  Start with your bedroom, or your closet.  Rid yourself of all the “clutter” draining your energies and you will be the beneficiary of great rewards.

4. Avoid or Deal with All Energy Vampires.

One of the quickest ways to get an energy boost is to disassociate yourself from those whose energy drains you. It is a very effective method of establishing a positive energy flow in your life.  This becomes difficult if they are your partner, member of your family, work colleagues or boss. One method is to develop a stronger set of boundaries and energetic protection with this person, so that they are less likely to affect you in a negative fashion.

5. Create quiet time for yourself every day.

We all need time, every day, just to clear and refresh our minds. We are human beings, not robots. There are times when our crowded schedule and over-worked minds don't allow space and time for the creative to be welcomed in. Einstein liked to go sailing in the afternoons after working in the morning. Okay, most of us don't have this opportunity, but you get the point.  I like to meditate for thirty minutes to an hour every night before I go to sleep.  If I have an opportunity during the day I will take ten minutes out to put on some binaural beats and recharge my energy or just relax.  Find something that you enjoy doing by yourself, for yourself and do it for at least ten minutes to an hour every single day.

If you start out with only one of the above, then your life will begin to undergo a profound change.  Find a way to introduce all of the methods into your life and it will truly increase your happiness and energy levels.

"Knowledge of what is possible is the beginning of happiness."

A Couple Quick Self Improvement Tips

An ordered life is one of the most assured methods of self-improvement. The saying “tidy desk - tidy mind” is also certainly true but only a small part of it. It is important that you order your life in such a manner that allows you to do everything you need to do, when you need to do it. You should also be able to effectively ensure that you become happier and more content, as well as progress with your career, make new friends and anything else that you want in life.

While work is important, you should always make time to spend with your family and be sure to take a little personal time. This personal time could be an excellent opportunity to take up a physical hobby. Exercising helps to clear the mind and produce chemicals in your body that are essential for happiness and stress relief and are often lacking. Modern living involves longer working hours and less personal time. Inevitably this has led to less social interaction between friends and family.  It is important that you schedule your time to include social activities with those close to you.

Always set goals for yourself to help aid in your progress. Increasing the amount of exercise you do will only be beneficial and successful if you have a reason to do it. If you simply want to get fitter and stay healthy then set yourself an achievement goal. If you currently walk 1 mile a day, then aim to walk 5 miles a day. When you are walking 5 miles a day, consider if there is any way you can improve upon your progress.  Always move forward, never stand still.

As mentioned, time with your family and friends is essential. We are social animals by nature and so human interaction is not only natural but also healthy and pleasurable. Taking up a sport with a friend or group of friends would combine exercise with interaction and be one perfect solution. Your friends may turn out to be the extra motivation you require in the event of times when you experience low motivation.

It is up to each of us as individuals to take control of our lives and include all of the aspects that are required to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.  When you begin to set aside more time for interaction with friends and family you will notice the great effect it has on lowering your stress and irritability levels.

Including exercise in your routine at least three times a week will also go a long way in improving your overall health and well-being.  Exercise will also help to get your body in better shape and that is beneficial in countless ways.  In short, take some time out of your day to play with your friends and family and remember to stay active!

Links To Try Out And Be On Your Way To Self-Improvement... A Great Helping Resource!

The popularity of self-improvement books, tapes and seminars is a reflection of the universal interest we all have in overcoming our limitations, or "being the best we can be" or "achieving our full potential."

Popular applications of self-improvement programs include motivation and confidence, personal relationships, sales and job performance, enhancement of sports performance, public speaking, weight control and smoking cessation.

Here are some basic principles to help you determine whether such products or programs are worthy of your time and money.

There is no book or program that will be an exact fit for your needs and interests. Books and group programs are necessarily general in nature. Some of the ideas and concepts may apply well to you, but others may be irrelevant or just plain wrong as applied to your own personality and life situation. Use good judgment and discrimination in following advice offered in any self-improvement program.

Be wary of any program that is highly authoritarian and that tears you down, or attacks people who question what is being done. There have been many group self-improvement programs that have enjoyed a temporary burst of great popularity over the years that have been extremely damaging to some participants.

The most effective program or tape would, of course, be one that is designed specifically for the individual, addressing his or her unique goals, motivation and personality. Obviously this can be done only in personal consultation with a professional person such as a psychologist and involves the cost of paying that professional person for the time it takes them to provide the individual attention required to design a program or tape tailored exactly to your needs.

Suggesting a link to which you can seek for help can make things easier for you to achieve your goal. Help is on its way. Here are links that I can suggest you can visit.

Psych Web by Russ Dewey:

The content of this awesome and well-organized site might be described as half-way in between the sites "Self Improvement Online" and "Mental Health Net."  Although its modest self description on the home page is "This Web site contains lots of psychology-related information for students and teachers of psychology," it is that and much more. The links on its self-help directory page alone are worth the time of the trip to this site: http://www.psychwww.com/resource/selfhelp.htm.

Internet Mental Health:

In their words: "Internet Mental Health is a free encyclopedia of mental health information. It was designed by a Canadian psychiatrist, Dr. Phillip Long, and programmed by his colleague, Brian Chow...Internet Mental Health is for anyone who has an interest in mental health: -Mental health professionals -Patients who want to learn more about their illness -Friends and families of patients -Mental health support groups -Students -Members of the general public who want to learn more about mental health"  This is an impressive site with many helpful articles and resources. If you are interested in mental health from any point of view, you'll be happy you visited.

•  Life Mentoring:

Because of the demand from our clients we started this site Life Mentoring for individual visitors, in
1998. It's mission is to provide you with the best collection of thoughts, ideas, philosophies and practical concepts for leading a truly meaningful and successful life. It is not linked to any school of thought, but rather wants to give you an overview of all different approaches - and so you to choose and pick whatever suits your needs best." The site has a number of very good articles, excellent collection of links, a free newsletter, a bbs/forum. Lots of enthusiasm, but no commercial hype.

A group program or a general tape is, of course, less costly. If it does in fact does come close to fitting the goals, motivation and personality of the individual reasonably well, it may prove to be a useful self-improvement tool. It is a less costly approach, but it could not reasonably be expected to be as effective as a program or tape designed specifically for you.

Here are some positive affirmations for you:
"I feel good about the way I do my job."
"I am kind and compassionate."
"I am an expert at what I am doing."

5 Ways to Maximize Your Personal Energy Supply

Watching TV unconsciously is very exhausting. Haven't you noticed that when you watch TV continuously and do little else, you become extremely tired? That's because you are merely a passive recipient of information that you're not fully engaged with. On an energetic level, taking in all of those rays from the TV (similar to a computer) is overstimulating on a physiological level. Of course while you are watch TV, it means that you're not doing something more productive.

Am I saying that you stop watching TV altogether? No, but to be more selective and watch only those programs that you are engaged with. I'd also say that stop watching the TV news - all of that manufactured fear really affects you on a cellular level. I find that my mindset, moods and overall energy improve significantly when I watch less TV.

 3. Consciously create vacuums

Ever heard of the saying: "Nature abhors a vacuum". If you clean out an area of your life, you are giving the Universe a message to bring in something to replace it. This is otherwise known as energetic and/or physical clutter clearing. Start with either. Most people find it easier to start with clearing out the physical which has an effect on their energies.
